Nicolas Stévenart

Senior Freelance Full-stack Web Developer

I’ve been working as a web developer for 15+ years. I care about a job well done while being used to respect strict schedules and budgets. I usually get along pretty well with others and I can manage a small team to get the job done with as little drama as possible.

Experience

  • From end of 2016 until now, I’m working as a full-time freelancer. This allowed me to work with agencies on complex and interesting projects, for big brands and demanding clients. I've been working on solo projects as well as on missions reinforcing existing teams.
  • Noosphere is one of the leading communication agencies in Luxembourg. I was on staff to reorganize and automatize hosting services for its 100+ clients.

  • Satelia is a french medtech scale-up, specialized in the remote monitoring of patients with chronic diseases. I joined an existing team to maintain a Symfony monolith and migrate it to a micro-services architecture in Go. Despite the interesting project and a good fit with the team, I've chosen to leave Bordeaux and come back to Luxembourg for personal reasons.

  • The shop started small but in just a few years became one of the leaders in its field in Europe. I remained the CTO until the closure of the site in 2017. The project was very interesting because it grew very fast and the website (code, design and features) had to evolve as quickly. Today the shop does not exist anymore but this project taught me a lot about e-commerce.
    💪 Solo-dev on the project.
💬 Continuous synchronization with SEO and marketing needs.

  • Before freelancing I was working at z6creation, a web agency that has been sold since. My role was to lead the development team while still being the lead
developer on challenging projects. This position taught me how to
manage several projects at once and meet very short deadlines.

  • I joined the development team of the music streaming platform, where I was in charge of the integration with social networks (Fabebook, Twitter). At Jamendo, I learned how to optimize a site for it to scale well. I was working on the public part of the site, which had several millions monthly visitors. With a limited server infrastructure, writing efficient code was essential.

Education

Technical stack

Over my career I have had the opportunity to work with many different languages and tools. Learning a new language and/or framework doesn't bother me: I have a good knowledge in OOP and I can learn relatively quickly.

Here a quick overview of the tech I've been in contact, ranked by my expertise level :

Open-source projects

Despite my busy professional life, I try to save some time for open source development:

PicoPHP
I am currently lead dev on this open source PHP CMS that I also use on many projects. This CMS is also used by a dozen of agencies, a few of them in Luxembourg.
picophp.micromegas.me
SoapMailer
In 2017, I've created this free emailing sending service (funded by donations) for non-advertising purposes. It uses the SOAP protocol for the communication between clients and the server. Even I've have not been adding features since it's creation, it is still used today.

Hobbies and Interests

I was born in 1983 in Belgium and I have lived in France for several years. I recently came back where I started my career: Luxembourg, where I'm currently living.

I'm married and have an awesome French bulldog named Lino.

I'm a fan of movies, video games and graphic novels. I love specialty coffee and renovating houses. I'm also one of those dangerous vegans you sometimes hear about on TV.
